Considering one piece of land as having the potential to be used on three levels -- below ground, ground level, and above structures -- maximizes its efficiency. Locating geo-exchange bore fields and stormwater management below building foundations and parking garages; placing solar panels on roof and parking structures and utilizing green roofs to reduce stormwater runoff are all examples of strategies that Princeton is implementing in our campus planning.
