Sustainability initiative: DrinkLocal
How do you define sustainability? Ensuring that the planet can support life in perpetuity.
Why did you decide to get involved in the DrinkLocal initiative? In high school I started a campaign aimed at reducing plastic bottle usage. I wanted to continue with that mission at Princeton. DrinkLocal was a perfect initiative for me to get involved with. The reusable bottle giveaway to incoming freshmen is exactly what I had hoped to do at my high school. I think it's a great way to engage new students in Princeton's sustainability efforts and provide an awesome alternative to bottled water.
How has your role leading a sustainability initiative shaped your experience at Princeton? From my experience leading the Drink Local campaign, I understand the impact of individual sustainable choices in a large community like Princeton. The interconnectedness among sustainability efforts on campus is incredible, everyone is working toward a common goal. I've learned a great deal about the culture of waste at school and methods to reduce our collective impact on the environment.
