Major: Woodrow Wilson School

GreenLeader group affiliation: Students United for a Responsible Global Environment (SURGE)/PSII

How do you define sustainability?: Sustainability means more than just making sure our planet remains habitable. Society cannot be truly sustainable until there is justice for all, especially those who have born the brunt of ills such as pollution.

Why did you decide to get involved in SURGE?: I got involved in SURGE, because I was eager to fight for justice and figured working for SURGE would be a good way to do so.

How has your leadership role shaped your experience at Princeton?: I would hate to think what my life at Princeton would have been like without SURGE. SURGE in no small way enriched my life here. It put me in touch with amazing students, alumni, faculty, and advocacy groups. It gave me the chance to write op-eds and protest in fun ways like holding a mock oil spill. And, beyond that, it allowed me to make so many new friends. I will certainly be sad to say goodbye to them at the end of the year, when I graduate.
