Integrating Sustainability at Work

Green Office Recognition Program

  • Recognizes departments that have taken extra steps to ‘green’ their operations
  • Voluntary program with representative (e.g. Ambassadors, etc.)
  • Questionnaire organized by priority areas; scored by OoS
  • Participants are listed on the Sustainability website: Green Office Recognition Program Participants
  • Next submissions accepted June 2016

Relevant University Goals

  • Purchasing
    • Identify Environmentally Preferable Products – look for “green” and “recycled good” icons in Marketplace
  • Food
  • Waste Reduction
    • Mix your recyclables using the Mixed Recycling Guidelines; Look for new recycling bin labels
    • Use the “Green Your Event Checklist” and “Sustainability Catering List”– Green Your Event
    • Consider other office recycling options: Writing Instrument Brigade Pen recycling – if interested in participating, contact Lisa ln2@princeton.edu
    • Drink Local – There are more than 200 filtered water stations on campus - Station Location list
    • University Surplus -  Subscribe to their new listserv to get sale announcements. Open House Hours: Thursdays 8:30am University Staff only, Thursdays 10pm-1pm General Public/Non-Profit Organizations/University Staff and Students
    • Free Office Supplies Listserv: Receive and send emails offering new or gently used office supplies for free.
  • Energy
    • Switch off your computer monitor when not in use
    • Monitor your indoor office temperature – if interested in participating in the temperature card pilot, contact Lisa ln2@princeton.edu
